Dreamboats and Petticoats is a jukebox musical which has almost become a household name. The cast and creative team have managed to turn what was essentially just a compilation of Rock ‘n’ Roll from the 1950’s and 60’s into a full blown West End musical. But of course, those weren’t just albums, they were smash-hit, multi-million selling compilations of classic Rock ‘n’ Roll songs. Which is why, Dreamboats and Petticoats was bound to be such a success.
In February 2009, Dreamboats and Petticoats the musical premiered at The Churchill Theatre before going on a full UK tour. It was an instant success which was subjected to critical acclaim from all quarters and so, Dreamboats and Petticoats moved to its rightful place in the West End, eventually ending up at the Playhouse Theatre where it is still playing to this day as well as touring various theatres up and down the country.
Keeping in theme with the music, the storyline of Dreamboats and Petticoats centres around music and love-struck teenagers. At St Mungo’s Youth Club, teenage heartthrobs Bobby (X-Factor Star Scott Bruton) and Norman (Television presenter Ben Freeman) compete for the attention and affection of sex-goddess Sue (ex-Hollyoaks star Jennifer Biddall) before bespectacled schoolgirl Laura (Daisy Wood-Davis) suddenly gets Bobby’s attention and wins his heart.
Penned by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, famous for their involvement in Goodnight Sweetheart and Birds of a Feather, Dreamboats and Petticoats is a feel good musical with a heart-warming story and classic score.
Dreamboats and Petticoats features a range of classic Rock ‘n’ Roll tracks including - Let’s Dance, To Know Him Is To Love Him, Shaking All Over, Bobby’s Girl, Little Town Flirt, Only Sixteen, C’mon Everybody, Let’s Twist Again and much more!
