With its final performance at the Savoy Theatre scheduled for 7 April 2012, you’ll need to ‘bend and snap’ up your tickets to Legally Blonde The Musical quick if you don’t want to miss out on this award-winning show.
Now in its third year and after nearly 1000 manicures and makeovers, Legally Blonde is yet another in a long line of Hollywood blockbusters-turned-successful musicals to arrive in the West End.
Based on the 2001 film starring Reese Witherspoon - and directed by Jerry Mitchell, who both directed and choreographed the original Broadway production - it tells the story of Delta Nu sorority girl Elle Woods as she decides to attend Harvard law school in order to win back her ex-boyfriend.
With her dog Bruiser and an extensive pink wardrobe in tow, this is a fun and colourful musical treat for the eyes and ears. As well as 18 songs by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin, 16 of which are sung by the leading lady herself, there are also 19 costume changes for the blonde bombshell. Well, what do you expect from a former homecoming queen?
Embracing the ridiculous – with plenty of tongue-in-cheek gags and a cerise-inspired set - this is the ultimate girls’ night out. Just ask Sheridan Smith, Carley Stenson, Susan McFadden, Denise Van Outen and Natalie Casey who have all put on their stilettos to join the cast line-up.
Alternatively, ask the critics who awarded the show three Laurence Olivier Awards for Best New Musical, Best Actress in a Musical and Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical.
